Australian style icon and former MasterChef Australia judge Melissa Leong has revealed her latest career move, and just like her last gig, she’s about TO EAT.
In case you’re wondering why a bunch of fashionistas are Sydneyside, Australian Fashion Week (AFW) 2025 is about to kick off!
And alongside your fave designers, Aussie MUA’s and models, former MasterChef Australia icon Melissa Leong — who’s known for her gorgeous on-screen and red carpet outfits — will also be there to WERK.
According to The Saturday Telegraph, Leong will be making her runway debut at Gary Bigeni‘s AFW parade, titled “Dance Bigeni, Dance”.
“This collection is an homage to movement — to dancing for yourself before you dance for anyone else,” the designer told the publication.
“It’s about showing up with confidence, in colour, in shape, in spirit — for you first. As someone who grew up with a disability, colour and form have always spoken loudly to me; they’ve been tools of joy, identity, and expression.”

Shortly after the publication shared the huge news, the foodie icon shared an Instagram Story, confirming her big debut!
“Prepping for my runway debut at Australia Fashion Week,” she wrote.

Leong’s AFW debut with Bigeni does not come as a surprise, as the designer has been very vocal about their strong bond. After all, the fashion mastermind had been behind some of Leong’s most iconic MasterChef looks, which had been referenced on his IG multiple times.
In one post made on January 29, 2024, Bigeni described Leong as his “muse” before revealing that the piece she’s wearing was named after her.
“Style Leong is named after Melissa Leong as a way of saying thank you for your love and support over the years,” the designer wrote.

Honestly, this is what AFW should be about!!! It should be about spotlighting Aussie designers, supporting new ones and making space for everyone to express themselves.
Super stoked to see not only Leong’s debut, but what’s to come this week!
