Fiori Gionvanni, charged over the death of her baby daughter, will face a committal hearing. (AAP)

A Melbourne mother charged over the death of her baby daughter has had her case extended until May.

Fiori Gionvanni is charged with the negligent manslaughter of her daughter Illen Bellinger, who was found unresponsive in a bathtub in Melbourne in July last year.

Giovanni, a media commentator, is accused of leaving the baby unsupervised.

She faced Melbourne Magistrates Court for an administrative hearning on Monday.

A committal hearing to test the evidence in the case will be heard over two days in May this year.

She is on bail.
