Melbourne man charged with murder of sewing business operator

A man has been charged with murder after another man was fatally shot in his Melbourne home, where he ran a sewing business.

Police have said the 49-year-old victim could have been dead for up to a week before he was found by a visitor to his home, at Erin Square in Deer Park, late last month.

Neighbours had reported hearing gunshots about 3:00am on June 20 — a week before the discovery of the body, police said at the time.

Homicide Squad detectives have now charged a 35-year-old man from Kingsbury, in Melbourne's north-east, with murder.

He is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.

Another man, 45, from Coburg in Melbourne's north, is assisting police with their inquiries, officers said.
