Melbourne Has Recorded Two ‘Likely’ COVID-19 Cases In The Northern Suburbs & Now VIC’s On Alert

Melbourne is on alert after two people are believed to have tested positive for COVID-19 in the northern suburbs.

We don’t have much solid info just yet, but the Department of Health is now urging people to get tested if they have any symptoms.

“The Department of Health has this morning been notified of two likely positive cases of COVID-19 in Melbourne’s northern suburbs,” officials said in a statement on Monday.

“It’s currently understood the two individuals are connected.

“A full investigation is underway into these results, and initial public health actions are being put in place while both individuals isolate and are urgently retested.”

These two suspected cases weren’t included in Sunday’s tally, which counted zero locally-acquired cases for over 11,000 COVID tests.

Right now, no new COVID restrictions have been implemented in Melbourne as a lot of details have yet to be confirmed.

Nevertheless, people should still be careful and remember to take COVIDsafe precautions at all times.

“We will communicate any specific public health actions the community needs to undertake as soon as possible when investigations and case interviews are complete,” the department added.

“Until then, remember to observe key COVIDsafe behaviours: get tested if you have any symptoms at all, check in at venues, and always wear masks on public transport, including rideshare vehicles [such as Ubers and Didis].”
