Melanie Griffith beams as she finally covers tattoo of ex-husband Antonio Banderas' name

Melanie Griffith has finally finished removing and covering up the tattoo of her ex-husband Antonio Banderas' name - and couldn't look happier.

The 65-year-old actress, known for starring in Working Girl, showed off her new inking on Monday when she stepped out in Los Angeles. Melanie previously sported a heart shaped tattoo with her ex-husband's name in the centre, but decided to get that removed following their divorce. She has now covered the blank space with a tattoo dedicated to her four children.

Melanie revealed that she had split from Antonio almost a decade ago, with their break up being announced on June 6, 2014. Soon after the announcement, the actress began laser treatment to get the romantic ink dissolved.

Clearly desperate to rid herself of the ink following their split, Melanie went to great lengths to cover Antonio's name with makeup when she was seen at an event. But nine years on, Melanie no longer needs makeup to cover up the former inking, with it now being almost invisible to the eye.

Stepping out this week to proudly display the lasered area, Melanie also debuted a new inking dedicated to her kids. Tattooed over the top of her former heart tattoo - which was slightly visible - the names Alexander, Stella, Dakota, and Jesse were apparent.

Melanie has three children - Alexander, Dakota and Stella. She was previously married to Don Johnson and the marriage also made her a stepmother to Don's son Jesse Johnson - whose name is also in the tribute.

While showing off her new ink, Melanie beamed for the camera while going about her business. She wore a simple black vest top, a tiered white skirt and some cat-eye-style sunglasses with a black bucket bag.

The famous couple, who met in 1995 while on set of Too Much, parted ways in 2014 after 18 years of marriage, with proceedings finalised in December 2015.

Melanie might be best-known for her stint in Working Girl, but her career began in the 70s. But things really picked up for the star in the 90s when she starred in the likes of Buffalo Girls, Crazy in Alabama and Another Day in Paradise. The noughties then saw her voice the character of Margalo in Stuart Little 2, as well as pop up in a slew of television series like Nip/Tuck, Raising Hope, and Hawaii Five-0.

The actress then made her Broadway debut in 2003 in famed musical Chicago before starring opposite her husband Antonio Banderas in the science-fiction film Autómata in 2014.

Meanwhile her ex-husband Antonio is a Spanish actor and director who is known for his work in the likes of Philadelphia, Interview with the Vampire, Desperado, Evita and The Mask of Zorro.
