Half the Americans can’t stand Donald Trump. And judging by all his public appearances with his wife, Melania Trump, people are convinced she can’t either. But their recent sighting on Thanksgiving shows her smiling and happy, leading Americans to create a new conspiracy theory.
Every time the First Lady Melania appears with her husband in public, it seems as though she wants to escape. Whether it’s the uninterested look on her face or her attempts to avoid his physical touch, something always feels off. This week, the president and the first lady took off to Mar-a-Lago to spend Thanksgiving. But when the two were filmed leaving the White House, she had a wide grin on her face. And people couldn’t believe it.
Whatever the popular opinion about Melania is, everyone knows she isn’t one for PDA. She rarely smiles for the camera or interacts with Trump when the press is around. However, a recent video of the two walking together before boarding Air Force One paints a new picture. The clip already surprised people, which shows her holding Trump’s arm and flashing a big smile at the press.
Then, the two were clicked again, strutting down Air Force One at Palm Beach. Melania tightly held Trump’s hand and walked down the stairs before getting into their car. Some joked that she was clutching his hand to help him balance and navigate the descent safely. After all, those stairs aren’t unknown to presidents falling over them. And the last thing Melania would’ve wanted is that embarrassment.
But another group of people had a wilder theory, suggesting that the woman wasn’t Melania at all. They asserted that the “real” Melania can not stand Trump, let alone hold his hand like teenagers in love. “How to spot fake Melania… She will be smiling and holding Piggy’s hand,” one wrote. It was a double jab. The user mocked Trump on his recent “Quiet, Piggy” insult to a reporter, and suggested that he is insufferable.
Pushing the conspiracy deeper, some users claimed that the lady walking with Trump seems heavier than the “real” Melania. Others even went as far as to claim that the woman “doesn’t even have a similar facial structure.” But a more convincing argument centered on her walk. Melania used to be a model and walked hundreds of ramps wearing thin, high heels. But in the video, it almost seemed like she was struggling to walk in her 4-inch Louboutin 105 pumps.
Some users also used the same argument to justify why she was holding Trump so tightly. “I’d like to see you walk down a flight of airplane stairs in a pair of 4-inch heels. Get a life, loser,” one wrote. And it’s a fair argument. Walking down steep stairs in high heels isn’t the easiest job in the world. So, it’s possible that Trump was helping her walk down, not the other way around. Either way, the “fake” Melania conspiracy is wild.
