Following a state dinner at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen, it was Donald Trump and Melania Trump's turn to repay the favour on Wednesday evening with a banquet at Winfield House.
The First Lady caught attention in a red sequinned wool-crepe gown as the couple waited for royal guests of honour the Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Charles to arrive at the American ambassador's residence.
Fashion commentators were quick to compare FLOTUS' dress to Meghan Markle's signature style. The caped silhouette has been a favoured design by the new royal for evening occasions, including her first state dinner, which saw the then pregnant duchess don a blue dress by London-based brand Safiyaa.
It wasn't just the regal sweeping caped detail that drew similarities to the Duchess of Sussex. The Givenchy evening gown, currently on sale for £5,610, was from Megan's wedding dress designer Clare Waight Keller's resort 2019 collection for the fashion house.
The British designer and the duchess have struck up a strong relationship since the the historic wedding day, with Megan continuing to wear Waight Keller's designs for the majority of key royal occasions.
Melania isn't the first Trump to reply on a royal favourite for the state visit. On day one of the trip, Ivanka Trump was seen in Alessandra Rich, a London-based brand worn several times recently by The Duchess of Cambridge.
