Melania Trump wears London-inspired Gucci dress as she flies to UK for state visit

Melania Trump looked well prepared for her UK arrival as part of the US president’s state visit on Sunday, when she departed Washington DC wearing a London-inspired gown.

The first lady walked across the White House lawn in a flowing Gucci shirt dress covered in images of landmarks in the British capital, such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

The vibrant frock had splashes of scarlet, orange and green and featured a collared neckline and a calf-skimming hemline.

Melania paired the dress, which boasts the label’s trademark interlocking “G” logo on its buttons, with a pair of nude stiletto heels.

The Trumps took the Marine One helicopter to Andrews AirForce Base in Maryland before boarding the AirForce One jet, on which they travelled to England for the three-day state visit

.The president and Melania are due to touch down at Stansted airport in London at 9am.

They are due to meet the Queen at Buckingham Palace before a private lunch. Then, following a tour of Westminster Abbey, the pair will meet Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall for tea at Clarence House.

In the evening, the Queen will host a state banquet at Buckingham Palace, where both HRH and the president will deliver speeches.

The US president’s arrival is set to prompt major protests in the city, with tens of thousands of people threatening to bring central London to a “standstill” in opposition to him.
