Melania Trump visits Boston hospital to tout child-cuddling program, gets met by protesters

Employees at a Boston hospital carried signs and expressed their disapproval of the Trump White House during a visit from the first lady Wednesday, who parachuted into the Bay State to tout a child-cuddling program.

First lady Melania Trump visited Boston Medical Center to support a program for infants born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. Outside, protesters held signs scrawled with statements like "We Really Care Do U?" and "What About Babies In Cages?"

"She's married to Donald Trump, and he is such a symbol of so much of what we stand against," Dr. Sara Stulac, a pediatrician at the hospital who assists opioid-exposed children, told The Boston Globe during the rally.

The 200-worker strong protest notched the support of Rep. Ayanna Pressley. The Massachusetts congresswoman, a member of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's progressive "squad," said in a statement that President Trump's administration is undermining "the efforts of the incredible staff at BMC and health centers across the nation."

"I stand w/ the hundreds of employees standing in the cold, calling out the cruelty of this Administration's policies," Pressley tweeted.

The first lady, who was joined by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar on the visit, toured the facility and met with patients. She frequently makes stops at healthcare centers.
