Melania Trump reassures the public after Covid test result

Melania Trump has tweeted after news broke this morning that she and her husband, President Donald Trump, both have coronavirus.

The First Couple were tested after one of Mr Trump's closest aides contracted Covid 19.

Melania tweeted: "As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19.

"We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together."

Physician Sean P. Conley sent a letter dated October 1 to the president's assistant Kayleigh McEnany confirming the positive result - which has been subsequently shared by the White House.

"This evening I received confirmation that both President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus," he wrote.

Trump tweeted on Thursday: "Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible!

US vice president Mike Pence tweeted: “Karen and I send our love and prayers to our dear friends President @realDonaldTrump
and @FLOTUS Melania Trump.

“We join millions across America praying for their full and swift recovery. God bless you President Trump & our wonderful First Lady Melania.”
