Melania Trump only maskless person at polling centre as she votes in £3,000 dress

Melania Trump donned a striking Gucci dress but didn't wear a face mask while casting her vote in the US election.

On Tuesday the first lady submitted her ballot at the Morton and Barbara Mandel Recreation Centre in Palm Beach, Florida.

The 50-year-old was filmed entering and exiting the centre without wearing a face covering, despite a county wide mandate on masks.

“It’s election day, so I wanted to come here to vote today for the election,” she told reporters.

All those flanking her were wearing face coverings.

More than 16,000 people have died in the Sunshine state, while 233,000 have lost their lives to Covid-19 across the country where cases are currently spiking.

The first lady tested positive for Covid-19 on 2 October alongside her husband Donald Trump.

While she has recovered from the disease, it is not known how long immunity lasts for.

The sight of Melania without her face or mouth covered sparked outrage and disbelief from people online.

The Daily Beast's editor-at-large Molly Jong-Fast tweeted: “It’s like the Trump administration owns stock in coronavirus.”

Another Twitter user wrote: "Melania was the only person not wearing a mask to vote.

"WTF is wrong with these people? This is one reason we cant have Trump win in 2020.

"They just don't care. Plenty of time people, go vote and be counted. This is ridiculous."

Melania's mask-less face was not the only part of her outlet that caught the eye.

The former model, who can speak six languages, donned a $4,500 (£3,470) chain-print dress by Gucci.

She accessorised the outfit with nude pointed-toe Christian Louboutin heels and a pair of tortoiseshell shades.

Melania also carried a Hermes Kelly bag, which could cost as much as $17,000 (£13,000).

She is no stranger to carefully picking her outfits for big occasions.

Famously she wore a jacket emblazoned with the words 'I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?' while on the way to meet children separated from their parents on the US/Mexico border.

Her communications director, Stephanie Grisham, argued the $39 (£30) Zara jacket has no meaning.

"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message," she said.
