Mel Tucker named Big Ten’s ‘Coach of the First Half’ by Associated Press

If the season ended today, Michigan State’s Mel Tucker would be the Associated Press’ choice for Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Numerous media outlets are releasing their midseason awards and honors, and that includes the Associated Press (AP) that pegged Tucker for the league’s “coach of the first half” award. He was considered a unanimous choice.

Michigan State was also selected as the most surprising team and running back Kenneth Walker was selected as the most surprising player in the Big Ten by the AP writers that cover the conference.
