Mel Kiper projects Seahawks select guard in mock draft 3.0

The NFL draft is just one month away and analysts are busy updating their boards after the first couple of weeks of free agency. ESPN’s Mel Kiper has released his mock draft 3.0 and once again, he has changed his prediction on the Seattle Seahawks’ first pick.

In his initial mock, Kiper projected Seattle would select Old Dominion pass rusher Oshane Ximines at No. 21 overall. In his second go-round, Kiper mocked Florida outside linebacker Jachai Polite to the Seahawks.

Kiper now has Seattle tightening up the offensive line, opting for Boston College guard Chris Lindstrom in the first round of April’s draft.

“The Seahawks’ offensive line was one of the most improved units in 2018,” Kiper notes. “And while Seattle re-signed D.J. Fluker and added Mike Iupati in free agency, the guard position isn’t solidified for the future. Lindstrom (6-foot-4, 308 pounds) is rising after his combine workout – he ran a 4.91 40-yard dash and tested well athletically – and he’s getting some first-round buzz.”

The Seahawks will always be seeking ways to improve the offensive line, but securing Fluker and Iupati for the near future could mean they look to a different position to address early in the draft.
