The Bears won’t get a quarterback in the first two rounds of the draft — at least according to ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.
In a mock draft released last week, Kiper left the Bears to draft offensive players in each of the first two rounds: Oklahoma State tackle Teven Jenkins at No. 20 and Auburn receiver Anthony Schwartz at No. 52.
Kiper called Jenkins the last of the four standout tackles in the fourth round. He’d likely play right tackle this season and could switch to left whenever the Bears part with Charles Leno.
Schwartz has “elite speed,” Kiper said, and could help the Bears fill the void left by Anthony Miller, were they to decide to trade him. He said the Bears will consider Stanford quarterback Davis Mills, who made only 11 college starts. In the mock draft, though, Kiper has Mills going one spot before the Bears’ second-round pick, to Washington at No. 51.
Kiper has five quarterbacks — Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Trey Lance and Justin Fields — all going in the draft’s first 10 picks.
