Mel Giedroyc's husband, children and past shows as she hosts Handmade: Britain's Best Woodworker

Mel Giedroyc will be hosting a brand new television show in the quest to find Britain’s Best Woodworker.

The new Channel 4 show will air at 8.30pm on October 21 and will follow a similar format to The Great British Bake Off.

Each week the carpenter contestants will have to follow a series of challenges, with one being eliminated each week.

The final person left standing will be crowned Britain’s Best Woodworker.

You may feel the show seems a bit familiar with Mel as the host and the format following the same sort of lines as Bake Off.

Who is Mel Giedroyc?

Mel Giedroyc is a 51-year-old television actress, comedian and presenter.

She was born in Epsom in Surrey and is most famous for her comedy and presenting work with Sue Perkins .

The two met while they were students and initially began working as a comedy duo.

But they quickly became television favourites, co-hosting The Great British Bake Off together for the BBC until 2016.

Who is Mel Giedroyc’s husband?

Mel Giedroyc has been married to television director Ben Morris for 16 years.

He has worked on shows including Doctors, The Bill, Holby City and Casualty, among others.

The couple have two daughters, Florence and Vita.

What has Mel Giedroyc hosted before?

Mel’s most famous role has been co-hosting The Great British Bake Off on BBC with her comedy partner Sue Perkins.

The pair famously left the show when it moved to Channel 4 in 2016.

Together they also co-hosted their own show, Mel and Sue, for a short stint in 2015.

Alone, Mel has presented the talent competition Let It Shine and took part in Celebrity Fame Academy in aid of Comic Relief.

She has previously been a presenter on Children in Need as well as the Eurovision Song Contest as a commentator.
