Mel Gibson heavily criticised after being caught saluting Donald Trump at UFC event

Mel Gibson is being criticised after he was filmed saluting former president Donald Trump at a UFC even over the weekend.

The Hollywood star, who has a string of controversies attached to him, was filmed giving Trump a military-style salute as the former president made his way into the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for UFC 264 on Saturday night.

A bearded Gibson can be seen just behind Trump in the below video, although the former president doesn’t appear to notice the actor or his salute at all.

Gibson is hardly a stranger to unpopular opinions and is hardly a figure that is held in high esteem anymore so him being a Trump fan shouldn’t be a huge surprise. However, the 65-year-old Australian’s choice to salute Trump has raised a few eyebrows as well as further the condemnation of the Oscar winner.

Some Trump supporters were obviously happy to see the actor/director backing their man.

Beyond the salute, Gibson told UFC that he wanted to see a rematch of the main event between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier, which the latter won in round one via KO/TKO.
