Mel B taking part in Celebrity Gogglebox for heartbreaking reason

Mel B has opened up on the heart-breaking reason why she will appear on a celebrity special edition of Gogglebox.

The Spice Girls star decided to film a special episode of the Channel 4 series for Stand Up To Cancer in memory of her late father Martin Brown, who passed away from the disease four years ago.

The 48-year-old rocked her signature look as she donned leopard print while on the sofa alongside comedian Ruby Wax.

Speaking about taking part in the show, she said: "I miss him every single day. He loved to watch telly and he loved to laugh, so I'm doing this for him and for everyone else out there who has lost someone."

Earlier this year, Mel shared the touching moment she visited her late father's grave to tell him she had been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours list.

In an Instagram post, the singer shared a black and white image visiting her father's grave in Leeds. She wrote: "This was the moment I told my dad about my MBE. On his death bed I promised him I would leave my abusive marriage. He gave me that strength.

"He would be so proud, I’m overwhelmed honoured and grateful and as patron of @womens_aid I will NEVER stop this fight to #stopabuse #itsnotyourfault #silencenomore #womensupportwomen #speakup #youarenotalone #reclaimthesestreets #yourlifematters #togetherwearestronger."

The post comes after Mel revealed she has dedicated her MBE for her work with domestic violence charity Women's Aid to other people who suffered in abusive relationships.

Other stars taking part in the Gogglebox special show includes Gordon Ramsey and his daughter Tilly as well as Charlotte Church and Luke Evans, Daily Mail reports.

Gordon and Tilly said: "We’re always happy to support the superb work that Stand Up To Cancer do, and despite our TV tastes being polar opposites, we had a lot of fun filming this very special episode of Gogglebox. Every penny raised goes towards finding cures for cancer so I hope we can help raise bucket loads of money."
