Mel B says she was on the receiving end of racist hate mail when locals tried to run her out of town after she bought a mansion in Buckinghamshire.
The 45-year-old Spice Girls legend was left gobsmacked when poisoned letters started appearing at her home when she moved to Little Marlow in the 1990s.
Mel lived in a sprawling listed building in the lush English village – but says the reception from locals was far from welcoming.
Speaking about her experiences of racism, Scary Spice says she was targeted by vile villagers who tried to pressure her out of her new home.
She told The Sun: “The fact I bought it disturbed the whole village. I got not just hate mail but racist hate mail, which was shocking to me.
“It said, ‘Get out of this village, you don’t belong, you can’t buy something like this . . .’
“It disturbed me but I still threw some great parties there – really loud to disturb the village.”
She added: “I think there’s been a massive change when it comes to race and culture because we are a little bit more educated. Some countries are still way behind.”
Mel even tied-the-knot in Little Marlow when she swapped vows with first husband, dancer Jimmy Gulzar, at St John the Baptist church in the small town.
Locals told Bucks Free Press back in 2000 that they were shocked to hear of the abuse Mel received when she first moved to the area.
One local said at the time: “We are very surprised and shocked that something like this can come into our village.
“Certainly, this issue has never come into our lives and this is the first time we have heard of these kind of problems in Little Marlow.”
While police commented at the time: "This happened when she first moved into the area and it was all sorted out and there's been no problem since."
