Mel B declares any potential Spice Girls documentary must be ‘honest’

Mel B says any potential Spice Girls documentary must be ‘honest’

Mel B says any potential Spice Girls documentary must be “honest”.

As she ruled out a reunion tour ahead of the group’s 30th anniversary, the singer, 50, spoke in an interview with HELLO! published on Friday (03.04.26), addressing speculation about both a documentary and a possible return to touring for the Spice Girls.

The group – also comprising of Melanie Chisholm, known as Mel C, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham – will mark 30 years since their debut single and album later this year.

While discussions about a documentary have taken place, Mel B indicated there are differing views within the group about how it should be approached.

She said: “I think we’ve all been asked and were all thinking about it at some point.

“It has to be done in the right way.

“It has to be honest – and not everybody wants to be honest.”

Asked about a reunion tour to mark the anniversary, Mel B added: “I can tell you it’s not happening.”

She also said: “If it does, it’ll be a shock to me, let’s put it that way. When I look at that (tour) and at the feeling it gave me, I was in my element, but there comes a time… I’m 50.

“You can’t be nagging everyone to go on tour if they don’t want to. I laid that to rest when I turned 50.”

Mel B said even if the other members were willing to reunite, she is uncertain she would return to the stage.

She added: “I wouldn’t be sitting here if it wasn’t for me being part of the Spice Girls.

“They’ve done a lot for me as a person and in my life. I’ve got fond memories, but I don’t know if I would want to go back up on stage.”

Recent activity among other members has included appearances without Mel B.

In January, Mel C, Geri, Emma and Victoria gathered to celebrate Emma’s 50th birthday.

Mel B marked the occasion separately on social media, writing: “My dear ‘BUNTON’ you will always be BABY to me even though you are now the big 50!!!!!!! Happy Birthday I Love you lots and lots and lots !!!”
