Mehrdad Ghodoussi's Newcastle United 'love and pride' after Everton win

Mehrdad Ghodoussi told of his "love" for Newcastle United after the 1-0 victory over Everton at St James' Park.

The Magpies registered a third victory in four games to maintain their position in the top six and extended their unbeaten run to six games (W3, D3).

They also reduced the gap behind the top four to two points after Chelsea's draw against Brentford.

Miguel Almiron continued his rich vein of form by notching his fifth league goal of the campaign and his fourth in as many games, and Ghodoussi made a special mention to the Paraguayan in his tweet.

Ghodoussi wrote to his 108.2k followers: "Love this team, definitely made me proud. #miggy #nufc'.

Newcastle have built on their successful second half to the 2021/22 season with a strong start to the current campaign. They've lost just one of their first 11 league games - registering draws against Manchester City and Manchester United respectively, and only losing in the dying embers at Anfield.

A five-match winless run raised questions over their capabilities this season, but Eddie Howe's side have responded emphatically, by scoring 10 goals in the last four games, and conceding just twice in the process.

They currently boast the strongest defensive record in the Premier League (nine goals conceded), while Nick Pope registered his fifth clean sheet of the season against the Toffees.
