Mehrdad Ghodoussi enjoys meal out in Newcastle after 'long day' during club's busy January transfer window

Mehrdad Ghodoussi continued to win the hearts of Newcastle United fans when he stepped out into the city centre to enjoy a meal the night before the club's draw against Watford.

The Newcastle United owner paid a visit to Landmark Oriental Restaurant, on Stowell Street, on Friday night, January 14.

During his visit, he tucked into a meal with friends and relaxed with a Tsingtao beer, telling his followers that it was what he needed after a "long day."

Tweeting a photo of his beer on the table, Mehrdad said: "Nice end to a long day… thank you Yen for a lovely meal."

His comments come during a busy January transfer window for Newcastle, which has already seen the club sign Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.

The owners of the popular restaurant did not want to comment on Mehrdad's visit, but did say that he and his companions were "very nice people."

Mehrdad's support for the restaurant, which serves "oriental cuisine" along with "world beers, wine and champagne," won him praise from fans on Twitter, who applauded him for supporting local businesses in the city.

One fan Tweeted: "Enjoy your downtime mate.

"We appreciate everything you and the new ownership team are doing for our special club.

"We are with you every step of the way gaffer!"

Another said: "You’ve still got two weeks of long days left.

"But a massive thank you to you and Amanda for everything you have done for us!"

Another said: "Love the owners of my club, genuine caring and committed.

"Thank you, it means more than money.

"We want people who get it, we aren't greedy, we just need owners who care."
