Mehdi Ghayedi dons Celtic kit as throwback footage captures transfer 'target' grafting in club colours

It remains to be seen if Celtic will be able to secure a deal for Mehdi Ghayedi but there's no doubting his devotion as a video emerges of the Iranian working out in a Hoops shirt.

The 23-year-old winger is currently starring for Shabab Al Ahli in the UAE, but it's been reported that he's a target for the Premiership giants.

Boss Ange Postecoglou is said to be keen on the Iranian international, who only joined his current club last summer.

Reports in his homeland suggest that an initial transfer bid has been rejected but that Celtic are "determined" to get their man.

And it seems the feeling may be mutual for Ghayedi after a video emerged of him working out wearing one of the Parkhead club's away shirts in 2016.

Ghayedi has been capped eight times by his country, scoring against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Cambodia.

Postecoglou has been active on the transfer market this month as he looks to continue the Parkhead rebuild.

Japanese trio Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daezen Maeda are already in the door, as is Johnny Kenny.

Australian midfielder Riley McGree has agreed to become the fifth signing of the window after ending his loan spell at Birmingham City.

If a deal gets over the line for Ghayedi he would become only the second Iranian to play in the Premiership.

Alex Samizadeh is the only player to manage that feat so far, making one appearance for Kilmarnock in 2017.
