Mehdi Edno makes Love Island confession on girl he wanted to pursue 'connection' with after exit

Mehdi Edno has admitted that he was keen to pursue things with another girl in the Love Island villa, following his shock exit from the show on Tuesday night.

Mehdi was paired with Whitney from day one of the new series, as it was down to ITV2 viewers to decide the first pairings. While initially it seemed that things were heading in a more 'friendship' direction, feelings started to grow between the pair, although their blossoming relationship was fiery at times. Love Island fans claimed to have 'red flags' from some of Mehdi's comments and accusations towards Whitney urging her to try and find a connection with someone else.

But it was Mehdi's interest in Leah, that seemed to come from nowhere, that nearly saw him and Whitney split, as Mehdi told Leah that he wanted to get to know her more. That opportunity has now slipped from his grasp, for now anyway, as Mehdi was the boy who received the lowest number of votes from fans in the latest popularity poll and was sent home in a double elimination, alongside Mal.

Unlike other dumpings so far this year, the safe Islanders got no say in the matter and Mehdi and Mal got their marching orders with immediate effect. And, while Mehdi told Whitney that he thought things were heading in the right direction for them and said she could come visit him in France, he has also admitted he was also keen to see what would have happened with Leah.

In his exit interview with ITV, Mehdi said: "I did want to explore a connection with Leah, but I was always drawn back to Whitney," adding that he wanted Whitney to "live her experience to the fullest."
