Meghan threatened with £8 million lawsuit after Netflix bath salt recipe 'left fan with catastrophic burns'

A woman is threatening to sue the Duchess of Sussex for £8 million after claiming she suffered "catastrophic burns" from her homemade bath salts recipe.

Robin Patrick said she sustained multiple injuries as a result of applying Meghan’s mixture, which she showcased on her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.

The concoction — which the former Suits actress, 43, prepared on Episode 1 of the show as a wellness gift for makeup artist Daniel Martin — was made using Epsom and Himalayan salts, as well as arnica lavender oils.

But Ms Patrick, a diabetic from Maryland in the United States and fan of Meghan’s, claimed the combination left her with agonising ulcers, blistering skin and “body burning from within”.

Speaking to RadarOnline.com, Ms Patrick said: “Initially, I experienced a mild tingling sensation without discomfort.

"However, as the water level rose to cover my legs and reached my buttocks, I began to feel burning and significant discomfort in those areas.”

She shared horrific pictures of her legs as proof that the Duchess’ recipe is “flawed and dangerous” and should have come with a warning.

Ms Patrick alleged that her injuries are preventing her from taking warm showers or wearing clothes over the affected areas.

Writing to Meghan, Netflix and Archewell Productions, Ms Patrick demanded a “minimum” of $75,000 (£55,000) to cover medical expenses related to treatments of her alleged injuries.

She outlined claims of “emotional distress, potential post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), loss of confidence in appearance, disfigurement, shortened life expectancy, and long-term medical care for injuries that may worsen over time.”

Ms Patrick also wants $10million (£8million), accusing Meghan and the show's producers of “reckless disregard for public safety”.

However, a lawyer for Meghan said Ms Patrick should have known the risks of diabetic people using Epsom salts.

Cameron Stracher said: “There can be no negligence claim against anyone involved in the production or distribution of the series.”

Ms Patrick said she is willing to resolve the matter without legal action if a financial settlement could be reached.

The Standard has contacted the Duchess’ representatives for comment.
