Meghan's family confronted over money-making claims and told they're as 'bad as she is'

Meghan Markle's family have addressed allegations that they are "so alike" and that the Duchess is a "carbon copy" of her relatives.

Leading up to her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, Meghan's father, Thomas, appeared to stage several paparazzi photoshoots of him preparing for the ceremony.

However, this didn't go down too well with his actress daughter and King Charles' son, who pleaded with Thomas to refrain from sharing such details.

Days later, it emerged that he wouldn't be attending the ceremony after suffering a heart attack.

Since their dramatic fallout, personal letters between Meghan, 41, and Thomas, 78, were subsequently shared with the media, adding further fuel to the fire.

Meghan also authorised some of her closest friends to give information to an American tabloid about her relationship with her biological relatives.

Speaking to 7News in what has been dubbed their final interview, Meghan's family including dad, brother Thomas Jnr and sister Samantha were accused of being "as bad as she is" after profiting from her marriage.

Liam Bartlett asked: "Can I put a proposition to you, because you're family, you guys are just so much alike.

"Meghan really is just a carbon copy, what do you say to that proposition?"

He went on to add: "In a sense that, you're really just as bad as each other."

"Well I throw a ball, you throw one back," said Thomas Snr, before Liam added: "She has made money out of selling her story, you have made money sometimes selling your story."

This appeared to frustrate Thomas Snr who quipped: "No offence but she can afford a much bigger ball."

Thomas now admits he regrets staging photoshoots with paparazzi agencies in a bid to make cash ahead of the royal wedding.

He later went on to sell part of a letter from the Duchess of Sussex to the Daily Mail, with Harry sharing his anger in his memoir, Spare.

It's claimed that the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip had urged Meghan to write to her dad, but Thomas claimed that Her late Majesty had not approved of the "horrible, very insulting letter and cruel."

Thomas explained that he leaked part of the letter after six of Meghan's close friends spoke to People magazine and he needed to have his side of the story heard.

"There was nothing in that letter to be ashamed about," his son-in-law Prince Harry claimed in his memoir, before continuing: "A daughter pleading with her father to behave decently."
