Meghan parts company with tenth publicist in just five years as comms chief quits after just three months

The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly parted company with her tenth publicist in just five years.

Emily Robinson, a senior figure poached from Netflix, went after just three months, the Daily Mail said.

She only joined Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s team as director of communications in June, it is claimed.

One friend of LA-based Robinson claimed in the newspaper: “It was her decision.

“She left a few weeks ago. She's not a quitter, so things must have been pretty horrible for her to go.”

A spokesman for the couple told the Standard: "Ms Robinson oversaw project-based work for a very successful season of With Love, Meghan and additional support for the production company.

“She did an excellent job and completed these projects with great success.”

A source said she was never brought on board to lead on frontline communications and her role would only last for a period of time.

Ms Robinson’s LinkedIn profile does not currently include any reference to having worked with the royal couple, but other roles which she has held are listed.

The decision to hire her had been controversial as she worked on the streaming giant’s drama The Crown, which had left some royal fans and commentators upset for airing damaging narratives.

She is said to be at least the tenth publicist to leave the employ of Meghan and Harry, although the Mail says two - James Holt and Miranda Barbot - have been promoted into non-PR roles.

Remaining on their team are Liam Maguire, director of communications in Europe, and Meredith Maines, their chief communications officer.

Hary and Meghan stepped down from the working monarchy in 2020 and moved to California where they now live with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The duke then levelled a barrage of accusations at brother William, sister-in-law Kate, his father King Charles and stepmother Queen Camilla in an Oprah interview, Netflix documentary, interviews and his autobiography, Spare.

In September, Harry was reunited with Charles having not seeing him face to face for 19 months during a private tea lasting 54 minutes at Clarence House.

He remains estranged from the Prince of Wales as the once-close brothers’ long-standing rift shows no sign of healing, with the pair not meeting during Harry’s four-day UK stay.
