Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would have known the constitutional reason their son didn't get a HRH title and their claims it was due to the colour of his skin were "misleading", an expert has claimed.
In their interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan discussed the decision not to make Archie a prince when he was born in 2019.
She said: "In those months when I was pregnant, we had in tandem the conversations of him not being given security or a title, and also concerns about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.
"They didn't want him to be a prince or princess, not knowing what the gender would be, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn't going to receive security".

Oprah then asked her: "Who is having that conversation with you?"
Meghan declined to give details of who it was, saying: "I think that would be very damaging to them."
Harry later said it wasn't the Queen or Prince Philip.
Many royal experts have since spoken out to say that it wasn't protocol for Archie to get a tile due to his position in the line of succession, in the same way that Princess Eugenie's son August doesn't have one.

Speaking on Royalty TV's The Royal Beat, correspondent says the couple would have been well aware of the rules and branded their claims "misleading".
She said: “Meghan would have known [that this was for an established constitutional reason] and Harry would definitely have known.
"I think it was disingenuous to throw all this together and suggest that Archie wasn’t a Prince because of the colour of his skin. I think it was misleading.”
Royal biographer and broadcaster Hugo Vickers added that he didn't understand Meghan's comments on the need to provide security for baby Archie, telling the programme: “I don’t know how many one-year-olds need security because they are normally covered by their parents and Prince Harry had plenty of security at that time.”
Speaking about the Queen's decision to wait a day before releasing her statement, Katie said: "I think she [The Queen] wanted to give it a moment and come back with something that was going to pacify a situation.
She is not brushing it under the carpet, she is extending an olive branch, which I think is very clear in that statement.
‘Recollections may vary’ is frankly something I want on a T-shirt because I think it’s brilliant, it’s like ‘annus horribilis’. It is pure genius!”
