Meghan Markle wears a gorgeous green Erdem coat for Commonwealth Day celebrations

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended an event at Canada House on Monday to kick off celebrations for Commonwealth Day.

It was the first event Harry and Meghan attended in their new roles as President and Vice President (respectively) of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, an organisation promoting young people around the world.

The glamorous green coat which Meghan chose to wear for the occasion was an example of pitch perfect sartorial diplomacy.

The coat, which featured black crystal embellishment at the collar, was from the autumn 2019 collection of Canadian-born, London-based designer Erdem Moralıoğlu.

A perfect choice for an event that was, according to Kensington Palace, designed to showcase and celebrate the diverse community of young Canadians living in London and around the UK.

Erdem is an increasingly popular designer among the young royals. The Duchess of Cambridge is regularly seen in his formalwear and Princess Eugenie wore a black floral Erdem number for her engagement photos.

Meghan, who is eight months pregnant, finished the outfit with a pair of her favourite Aquazurra pointy courts, the Deneuve style that she has previously worn to the Royal Academy in September. The shoes cost £528 and can be bought online here. She carried a black satin Givenchy box clutch with crystal clasp that she carried at Ascot last summer.

Her makeup was kept natural and glowy, with a slick of rosey lip gloss and her hair was tied loosely in her signature messy bun.
