Meghan Markle 'upset people from early on' claims royal biographer

Meghan Markle was "not as charming as she seen" when she first joined the Royal Family, a biographer has claimed.

Speaking to the new ITV documentary Harry and William: What Went Wrong which aired on Sunday, royal biographer Penny Junor said: "I was hearing very bad stories from early on that Meghan was upsetting people."

She went on to say that the Duchess of Sussex's approach was "showbiz-y, celebrity" and she was "appalled" by the interview Prince Harry and Meghan did with Oprah Winfrey. You can read more about their interview with Oprah here.

The Sun reports that she added: "Our royal family are not celebrities. They are working members of a public institution.

"I was appalled by the Oprah interview. These are not statements that should be made for public consumption.

"This is the sort of thing that should happen in the privacy of a psychiatrist’s couch."

The couple quit the Royal Family and began a new life in the US before making a series of claims about the family in an Oprah interview earlier this year, the Mirror reports.

Meanwhile, another royal biographer, Robert Lacey, claimed that Prince William felt Meghan had an agenda from an early stage in her relationship.

Speaking in the same documentary, he said: "Someone close to William told me William felt from an early stage that Meghan had an agenda."

It comes after reports that Prince Harry will return to the UK soon for another memorial event to honour Princess Diana.

The Duke of Sussex is said to be set for a September trip and this time he could be joined by his wife Meghan Markle, according to The Sun .

Harry headed back to the US after his UK trip to unveil a statue of his late mother at Kensington Palace with Prince William.

The event on Thursday was scaled down due to Covid restrictions.

But reports say he will be back on British soil in around 10 weeks to join 100 friends, family and charity leaders for another memorial event.
