Meghan Markle ups sneaker game in sustainable Stan Smith trainers by Stella McCartney

We're finding out a lot about Meghan Markle's personal style as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex carry out their 16-day royal tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand.

The mum-to-be's staple hues? Varying shades of burgundy, forest green and blue. Her winter coat of choice? Always a trench. As for her footwear? When not sporting her usual smart court shoe, she's a sneaker fan.

During the tour, which is now 14 days in, we've been given an insight into the 37-year-old's off-duty shoe staple and, just like the rest of us, her go-to is a pair of white trainers.

Royal fans were caught by surprise when Meghan sported trainers for the first time since becoming a royal on day six of the tour.

Attending the final of the Invictus Games sailing competition, Meghan showcased a pair of £115 sneakers by Veja, a brand that has long been a favourite with the fashion set.

The eco and cruelty-free sneakers also champion Meghan's sustainable sartorial efforts and the brand is described on Net-A-Porter as "a French company with a strong focus on transparency, fair trade and social and environmental responsibility."

That's not the only pair of sustainable sneakers in her collection though.

For a walk around Abel Tasman National Park in Wellington on Monday Meghan donned yet another pair of on-point kicks. In fact, you probably already have a pair in your wardrobe as they have become one of the most renowned trainer styles in recent years. Not to mention, the sixth most Instagrammed trainer style of all time.

Yes, even the duchess owns a pair of trusty Stan Smiths. A staple in all our wardrobes, Meghan's come with a sustainable twist, though.

Designer Stella McCartney, who's known for her commitment to sustainablity, recently collaborated with adidas in order to create a cruelty-free design.

For the first time in the sneaker's history, and much like Veja, the sneakers have been made from vegan leather. The sides of the trainers are adorned with stars and Stella's portrait is printed on the left tongue, while Stan's remains on the right.

Want to up your sustainable sneaker game just like Meghan? The £235 shoes are still available to purchase for both men and woman.
