Meghan Markle 'touched' by eternity ring Harry got her - and it has hidden secret

Meghan Markle has one of the most beautiful engagement rings in the world, and she now has another gorgeous piece of jewellery next to it.

Prince Harry gave his wife an eternity ring as either 'push present' or a first anniversary gift, and she proudly showed it off for the first time at Trooping the Colour.

The delicate pave-set eternity band created by celebrity jeweller Lorraine Schwartz, and Meghan is understandably delighted with it.

A source told Harper's Bazaar : "Meghan was touched. A lot of thought went into it."

And it's certainly true that Harry was very sweet with his ideas for the ring - and it contains three very romantic secrets .

The band is made up of diamonds - but it also contains three extra stones, Meghan, Harry and Archie's birthstones.

There is a green emerald for Archie, a blue sapphire for Harry and an olive-green peridot stone for Meghan.

How sweet!

As well as representing their family, each of the stones has a special meaning which will mean a lot to the Duchess.

Sapphires are meant to protect those close to you, peridots supposedly bring power and emeralds symbolize love.

Meghan has also had her engagement ring altered , changing the band for a glitzier and thinner alternative.

Harry popped the question back in 2017  with a beautiful ring  featuring two diamonds from his mum  Princess Diana  's collection and one from Botswana, where he does a lot of charity work.

Instead of the original thick gold band, the diamonds now sit on a much thinner micropavé band.

It's unclear when the work was done, however she was spotted without the ring during the last few months of her pregnancy so it could have been done then.

However Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, believes it was an "odd decision" and says the "piece of history" shouldn't have been modernised.

Speaking to the Sun Online , she said: "I find it a bit odd Meghan would want to alter a ring that her husband had especially designed for her.

"A royal engagement ring is a piece of history not a bit of jewellery to be updated when it looks old fashioned."

However many fans disagree and say Meghan should be able to do whatever she wants with the ring.

There has been a mixed reaction to her changes (DAILY MIRROR)

One wrote: "Meghan isn’t wearing Diana’s ring. Harry designed Meghan’s ring using some of Diana’s diamonds plus a larger diamond from Botswana. Harry later re-designed ring and added another band . Who the hell are these people to comment on someone else’s momma’s jewels anyway."

Another said: "Diana altered jewelry all the time! She turned a historic, big, sapphire pin, into a pretty necklace. It looked great as does Meghan’s ring. They need to get out of Meghan’s business!"
