Meghan Markle tones down jet-set lifestyle with £15 roast dinner at local pub

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry answered critics of their jet-set lifestyle by tucking into a £15 roast dinner at a village pub.

The royal couple ate the pub grub alongside their three-month old son Archie, who was in a cot beside them.

Harry sank a couple of pints with his meal, while Meghan reportedly opted for water during their two-hour stay at the pub.

Most of the customers at the Rose & Crown, in Winkfield, Berkshire, were apparently unaware that they were in the presence of royalty.

However, a businessman at the pub did spot the pair and told The Sun that they appeared to be like "any normal couple".

He said: "The staff clearly knew who they were but kept the service low-key. They were on a table with, I presume, a private secretary.

"Meghan was cradling Archie most of the time. The little lad was as good as gold, I didn’t hear him cry once while he was there.

“After the controversy they have been attracting they were getting their feet back on the ground with pub grub like millions of ordinary folk - and it was nice to see."

Their pub outing was a far-cry from the couple's recent luxury trips to Ibiza and Elton John's palatial home in Nice, France.

The royals were slammed for taking four private jets in 11 days, seemingly contradicting their high-profile campaigning over climate change.
