Meghan Markle reportedly texted X Factor star Matt Cardle - just months before meeting Prince Harry .
It has been claimed that the pair began to get to know one another online in 2015, during which she complimented him on his appearance.
At the time Matt, now 36, was starring in West End musical Memphis.
Suits star Meghan, 37, had been recently divorced from Trevor Engleson at the time and was also rumoured to have also been pursued by Ashley Cole.
A source told The Sun : "Matt followed Meghan initially in early 2015 because he thought she was a beautiful star from Suits.

"But he was stunned when she followed him immediately back and started messaging him. She said she was a big fan of his work.
“Matt couldn’t believe a Hollywood star like Meghan would even know who he was so he was very flattered and they chatted a little bit online before she suggested meeting up"
But the insider also told the publication that he then met his girlfriend and felt it wasn't appropriate to keep talking to Meghan.
They added that he "ghosted" her and that he didn't reply to her last message.
Currently Matt is in a relationship with Amber Hernaman, 28, who he says helped combat his drugs and alcohol addiction.
Meanwhile Meghan recently celebrated her anniversary with Prince Harry by sharing unseen intimate photos of their wedding day.
The couple also shared a video on their Sussex Royal Instagram featuring a series of stunning snaps from their wedding day last year.
