Meghan Markle sports custom Brandon Maxwell coatdress for Remembrance Day in California

As the UK and other Commonwealth countries paid their respects to fallen soldiers on Remembrance Day, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry paid their own tribute in California.

The couple laid flowers that were picked from their garden at the gravesites of two commonwealth soldiers, one who had served in the Royal Australian Air Force and one from the Royal Canadian Artillery.

For the occasion, Markle wore a custom Brandon Maxwell wool satin faille coatdress, which she paired with a coordinating black face mask.

The mother-of-one carried a pair of matching black gloves and finished the look with the Lorenzo 85 pumps from London-based footwear designer Jennifer Chamandi (£550, buy now.)

To accessorise, Markle wore her Cartier Tank Française watch (£5,300, buy now), which she bought while filming American drama Suits, as well as her Cartier Love bracelet (£3,850, buy now.)

This isn’t the first time the former Duchess of Sussex has championed Maxwell’s designs. Last year, on her first visit to the National Theatre after being made a patron, she wore a nude slightly modified version of a look from the New York designer's Spring 2019 collection. The former actress also wore a citrusy canary yellow dress of Maxwell’s for a Commonwealth Day youth reception in 2018.

It was reported this weekend that Buckingham Palace denied Prince Harry’s request for a wreath to be laid in his name at London’s Cenotaph war memorial during Sunday’s socially distanced ceremony.
