Meghan Markle shows off growing baby bump on solo visit to Royal Variety nursing home

The Duchess of Sussex brought Christmas cheer to retired artists and entertainers as she visited the Royal Variety Charity’s residential nursing and care home.

Meghan, 37, wore a white printed Brock Collection dress, which hugged her baby bump, and a grey Soia and Kyo coat for this morning’s visit to Brinsworth House in Twickenham.

The Royal Variety Charity, which the Queen supports as patron, is for those who have worked professionally in the entertainment industry.

Residents at the home - affectionately known as the Old Pro’s Paradise - include Richard O’Sullivan, who starred in Man About the House and Robin’s Nest, and Blossom Jackson, who played Mona Hammond in Eastenders.

Sir Norman Wisdom, Dame Thora Hird and EastEnders actor Leslie Grantham have also been cared for at the home.

Meghan, who made her name as an actress in Suits and attended the annual Royal Variety Show last month with husband Harry, was expected to join residents in festive activities, including arts and crafts and carols around the Christmas tree. It is her last official engagement before Christmas.

Charity’s chairman Giles Cooper said: “The timing of the visit is fantastic as it comes a few weeks after the Royal Variety performance which she attended with Prince Harry.

“And it comes after her wedding, which all the residents here were watching. We had the television on, Union Jack bunting up and a party atmosphere - so it’s nice to have the bride here.”

Her visit came a day after her father Thomas Markle appeared in an interview on Good Morning Britain, claiming he was being “shunned” by his daughter. Mr Markle also made a direct appeal to the Queen to help heal the growing rift between him and his daughter.
