The Duchess of Sussex has shared a string of rare pictures of her family life to mark her and Prince Harry’s wedding anniversary.

The couple, who married in a royal wedding at St George’s Chapel on May 19, 2018, in front of celebrities including David and Victoria Beckham and George and Amal Clooney, have been together for almost a decade and share two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, three.

To mark their anniversary, Meghan shared never-before-seen photographs of herself and Harry, along with the caption: “Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories. Thanks to all of you (whether by our side or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story - we appreciate you. Happy anniversary! ❤️”

The photographs, styled as a mood board, have handwritten captions and dates under the title: ‘Our love story’. The lyrics to ‘Stand by Me’, which was famously played at their wedding, appear in the top right-hand corner, as well as a quote from Walt Whitman that reads, “We were together. I forget the rest.”

In one photograph, Harry can be seen cradling his son Archie on the day he was born, while another shows Harry and Meghan enjoying a holiday in Botswana and Norway.

Other photographs include an ultrasound photo, an image of a heavily pregnant Meghan, engagement photos, a photograph of Archie and Lilibet sweetly kissing and a photograph of the family painting in their garden.

The post was temporarily removed before being republished.

Photos are taken from the beginning of their relationship in 2016 through to the present day and their life in Montecito, California.

The collage was accompanied by the song I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) by The Proclaimers.

The Duchess of Sussex has recently said she is enjoying a new “honeymoon” feeling with her husband since the pair got “a little bit of breathing space” after stepping back from their royal duties.

Speaking on a podcast, Meghan said the couple struggled to fully enjoy one another’s company early in their relationship as they were quickly put into “the trenches” by the media spotlight.

The pair decided to take a step back from their roles in 2020, leading to strained relations between Harry and the King and the Prince of Wales.

In an appearance on a podcast from entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, the co-founder of IT Cosmetics, Meghan said she has been able to better appreciate her relationship with the Duke of Sussex since stepping back.

She said: “You have to imagine at the beginning, everyone has, like, butterflies.

“Then we immediately went into the trenches together. Yeah, right out of the gate, like six months into dating.

“So now, seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way, and that’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period for us now.”

It comes as The Duke of Sussex has said he “can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK” after he lost a Court of Appeal challenge over his security arrangements while in the country.

Harry lost his appeal against the dismissal of his High Court claim against the Home Office over the decision of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that he should receive a different degree of protection when in the UK.

In a summary of the ruling on Friday, judge Sir Geoffrey Vos said Ravec’s decision was “understandable and perhaps predictable”.

Following the decision, Harry told BBC News it is “impossible” for him to bring his family to the UK safely after losing his challenge over his security arrangements while in the country.

He told the broadcaster: “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point, and the things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything you know.

“I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done.

“So you know? I miss the UK, I miss parts of the UK. Of course I do. And I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

In response to the failed legal challenge, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”
