Meghan Markle shares new photo of baby Archie on her first Mother's Day with a touching tribute to Princess Diana

Meghan Markle has marked her first Mother's Day as a new mum by sharing a new picture of her newborn baby son Archie.

The photo, posted on the The Duchess of Sussex's official Instagram account to mark Mother's Day in the United States, shows Meghan cradling her baby boy's tiny feet against a backdrop of forget-me-nots.

The flowers were a favourite of her husband Prince Harry's late mother Princess Diana.

The caption next to the photo reads: "Paying tribute to all mothers today - past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered.

"We honor and celebrate each and every one of you. Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe. This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex."

It continues: "Quote from 'lands': my mother was my first country; the first place I ever lived."

Meghan, who will celebrate her first wedding anniversary this weekend, is spending Mother's Day with her mum Doria Ragland who is in Windsor to welcome her first grandchild.

Meghan and Harry officially announced the name of Baby Sussex, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on Wednesday just hours after introducing him to the world.
