Meghan Markle set to publish children's book about a dad and son's relationship next month

Meghan Markle has penned a children's book called "The Bench" and it will be published next month.

The story is said to be based on a special relationship between dad and son through a mother's perspective according to publisher Random House.

In a statement about her new book, Meghan said: "The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father's Day, the month after Archie was born, writes The Mirror.

"That poem became this story."

She added: "My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”

Meghan and husband Prince Harry are set to welcome their second child, a baby girl, this summer.

The pair already have son Archie, who they live with in Los Angeles.

The picture book, published by Random House Children's Books, has been illustrated by award winning artist Christian Robinson, and the audiobook is narrated by the duchess.

This latest venture comes at the peak of a busy year for the Duchess of Sussex.

She and Harry have been embroiled in tensions since announcing their decision to split from royal life a year ago.

The couple said they wished to start a new, independent life, and launched their own charitable foundation, Archewell.

They have also scored a string of commercial contracts thought to be worth in the millions for the couple, including a Netflix and Spotify podcast deals.

Harry recently announced he was joining mental health and life coaching start-up BetterUp as a 'chief impact officer.'

Meghan's book is not her first venture into writing.

As an up-and-coming actress, she penned lifestyle blog The Tig - which shut down after she began dating her prince.
