Meghan Markle 'sent mum to convince ex to scrap comedy about failed marriage'

Meghan Markle asked her mum to get her ex husband to scrap a TV programme about their failed marriage, according to reports.

Doria Ragland was asked by the now Duchess to speak to partner Trevor Engleson over his plans to launch a TV comedy, the Sun claims.

It was reported last year that the TV producer Trevor was working on a "divorce comedy" centred around the royal family - perhaps drawing inspiration from his own experiences.

Fox was said to be developing a pilot for the story, which centred around the following pitch: "Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder.

"Sharing custody with the British Royal family when your wife marries a prince, in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media, is next level."

The show would have followed the fictional ex-husband of a British princess who was struggling to see his child, the Sun states.

But following the intervention of Meghan's mum, it looks like the show won't be going ahead after all.

Meghan and Trevor became a couple in 2004 and married in 2011.

Following their wedding they lived near Hollywood's Sunset Strip but only two years later their marriage ended in a no-fault divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

While she was staring in legal drama 'Suits' he was a producer on shows including 'License to Wed' and 'All About Steve'.

The news about the apparently scrapped show emerged as Doria prepares to head to Windsor to welcome Baby Sussex.

Her daughter is expected to give birth to her first child some time this month.
