Meghan Markle sends 'secret message' with necklace worn after Coronation absence

Meghan Markle didn't attend King Charles' Coronation - keeping a low-profile far away from the celebrations.

While Harry was watching King Charles and Queen Camilla being crowned, Meghan was hosting an intimate birthday party for Prince Archie on his fourth birthday.

The Duchess of Sussex reportedly felt that attending the historic event would have been "inauthentic" and she wanted to "minimize the drama".

Despite being the grandchildren of the new monarch, it's believed that Archie, four, and sister Princess Lilibet, one, were not invited, with sources citing that the kids are "very young".

On Sunday, Meghan was spotted on a hike with pals as she broke cover for the first time since the Coronation - and was wearing a necklace with a special meaning.

The former Suits actress had a big smile as she took a stroll near the couple's Monecito home on a sunny Californian day.

Harry was nowhere to be seen as Meghan spent time with pals Markus Anderson and Heather Dorak, who she has known for many years.

Meghan was wearing a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and scarf - in addition to a necklace made by her friend.

The Clarity Retreat Necklace, made by Maya Brenner in collaboration with Meghan's pal Abigail Spencer, costs £390 and is made with a hand-cut clear quartz.

The collaborators, who say they "share a similar spiritual journey as women, artists and mothers", claim the necklace has a special message about allowing the wearer to "let go of anything that's not working" and "protect (their) peace".

The brand says: "The Clarity Retreat Necklace is just the thing to help you see your way through any challenges.

"Made with a hand cut clear quartz, this crystal is regarded as the most powerful energy amplifier on the planet!

"It's meant to help you manifest what you want in life and let go of anything that's not working. A subtle wearable crystal piece to protect your peace…so every day can be your retreat."

According to the brand, the "retreat" name represents: "The state of being in a quiet or secluded place in which one can rest and relax."

The brand has strong links with the early days of the Sussexes relationship, as Meghan wore a May Brenner 'H and M' necklace in December 2016.

Speaking in 2019, Brenner admitted that she found it 'a little nerve-wracking' when she wore Meghan wearing her piece while out in Toronto.

This came after Harry made a 1,700 mile diversion to see his girlfriend on the way back to the UK after his tour of the Caribbean.

The delicate chain had 'H' and 'M' charms - which got rumours starting that the couple were in a serious relationship.

Speaking to Hello! magazine, Maya admitted she feared the 'Meghan effect' would leave her struggling to keep up with a spike in demand.

"It's like a Las Vegas slot machine when you pull the handle and the reel starts spinning," she said. "I could just see the orders come in hard and fast."

Insiders have said Meghan "stayed home to celebrate Archie’s birthday because she felt it would be inauthentic to do anything else".

The source told the Mail on Sunday : "She wanted to minimise the drama."

The family friend also revealed she made Archie a special lemon cake using fruit from their garden.

It's believed Harry didn't make it back for the bash after his whirlwind 28-hour trip to the UK but he did get to wish his two children goodnight.

Harry was invited to the post-Coronation Palace lunch, but decided he wanted to head straight home to California to be with his family.

It's not believed he spoke to any relatives, some of whom were involved in the balcony appearance and official photos, and was in and out of the Palace in 30 minutes.

Some reports indicate Harry and his father were in contact ahead of the big day and there have been attempts to clear the air, but the monarch is said to "understanding" of Meghan's absence
