Meghan Markle says she was 'silenced' by royal family and wasn't protected

Meghan Markle has sensationally revealed how she was "silenced" by The Firm in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The 39-year-old was asked by the presenter if she was "silent or silenced" and admitted it was the latter.

The former Suits star said that it was a sad irony as she had advocated for so long that women had to use their voice, but here she was being silent.

She told how she originally thought she was being protected by the institution when she was told to answer "no comment".

But she admits that she soon didn't feel protected and the institution "weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband".

According to Meghan, things got worse after her and Harry were married too.

She explained that while she believes she was naïve at the start, she's now "not afraid of consequences of speaking out".

The tell-all interview included an array of shocking revelations, but Meghan said she "is not going to live my life in fear".

She admitted that she believes the royal family can't expect her to be quiet after all this time and all the false accusations she says she has faced.

She told how she had already lost a lot, including her father, her baby and even her loss of identity.

However, she told the presenter that life is worth living.

Meghan has recently been accused of bullying by some former members of royal staff.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "We are clearly very concerned about allegations in The Times following claims made by former staff of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex."

The Palace said it will examine the allegations which accused Meghan of “emotional cruelty and manipulation”.
