Meghan Markle says her passport and keys were taken off her when she became a royal

Meghan Markle has claimed that her passport and keys were taken off her when she became a full-time royal.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were giving their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the US on Sunday night, when she made the shocking claim.

She said that she didn't see her passport and keys, as well as her drivers' license, until the couple quit the Royal Family and moved to America last year.

Meghan said: "When I joined that family, that was the last time - until we came here - that I saw my passport, my driver's licence, my keys.

"All that gets turned over.

"I didn't see any of that anymore."

Meghan also claimed that she felt lonely and isolated during her time as a working member of the Royal Family.

She said she wasn't even allowed to go out for lunch with her friends sometimes because of the coverage it would get.

Meghan told: "I am everywhere but I am nowhere."

The Duchess said everyone was concerned with the optics of how her actions might look but "has anyone talked about how it feels?

"Because right now I could not feel lonelier," she added.

During the interview, Prince Harry and Meghan made a string of serious allegations about the royals.

The couple alleged they were offered no mental health support and claimed an unnamed royal was concerned about the colour of baby Archie's skin.

Harry also said his father, Prince Charles, had stopped returning his calls, when they made the decision to leave.

He told Oprah he felt "let down" by Charles, and claimed the couple were cut off financially by the royals.

The interview has already proved to be divisive, with some viewers calling on the couple to be stripped of all their titles and royal commentators casting doubt on their allegations.
