On May 19 2018, royal fans across the world eagerly awaited the first glimpse of Meghan Markle in her wedding dress.
For months people had been speculating about the designer and the style she would go for, and the big reveal was a moment many fashionistas will never forget.
The Duchess of Sussex looked beautiful in a pure white dress with an open bateau neckline and three-quarter length sleeves, designed by Clare Waight Keller, the Artistic Director of French fashion house, Givenchy.
While many adored the dress, praising Meghan for opting for something so elegant, others were left feeling a little underwhelmed by how "simple" it was.
And it seems they weren't the only ones who questioned her choice.
According to the Mail on Sunday, royal sources have revealed that the Queen was 'surprised' by the bride's decision to wear white down the aisle.
They said: "The Queen is said to have expressed surprise that Meghan, a divorcee, wore quite such a white dress for her wedding."
Traditionally a white wedding dress has been seen as a symbol of purity and once a woman had married and consummated the relationship, they were no longer meant to wear white as they had lost their virginity.
Meghan has already been married once before and as such the Queen may have expected her to opt for a champagne or soft pink dress for her nupitals.
The former Suits star tied the knot with movie producer Trevor Engelson in 2011 during a four-day bash in Jamaica.
The pair had been dating for seven years before they wed but their marriage lasted only two years.
For this ceremony, Meghan wore a long, white, floor-length gown with an encrusted silver belt embellished on to the dress.
The strapless dress also featured a short v-plunge at the front.
