Meghan Markle's staff turns to the phone, sobbing about ‘a harrowing day', an expert dishes

Fresh allegations have emerged about Meghan Markle’s treatment of royal staff during her time as a working member of the Royal Family, painting a troubling picture of life behind palace doors.

Rebecca English, royal editor for The Daily Mail, has come forward with personal accounts and testimony from former staff members who say they endured emotionally distressing experiences while working for the Duchess of Sussex. The explosive claims were detailed in a report by The List, and follow years of speculation and previous accusations of bullying.

In a revealing statement, English admitted she had seen the impact of Meghan and Prince Harry’s behavior firsthand. “I’ve personally witnessed more than one member of staff driven to tears by the treatment they were subjected to by the duke and duchess,” she stated.

One account, in particular, stood out for its emotional weight. “They clearly felt emotionally broken and could no longer cope with the pressure,” English said, recalling a moment when an individual “sobbed down the phone to me after a particularly harrowing day.”

These claims build on a broader narrative that has followed Meghan since her early days with the Royal Family. The controversy escalated after Jason Knauf, the former communications secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, alleged that Meghan had bullied palace staff. Knauf outlined his concerns in an internal email, which later made headlines when referenced by 60 Minutes Australia.

At the time, the Duchess of Sussex’s legal team strongly denied the allegations, suggesting they were part of a coordinated smear campaign against her.

However, similar concerns were echoed again in 2024 when The Hollywood Reporter published a profile on Meghan. The piece quoted unnamed industry sources who described her as someone who “belittles” others and “doesn’t take advice.”

Despite her departure from royal life and transition to the entertainment and media industry in the United States, scrutiny around Meghan’s conduct continues to resurface in the public sphere. These new insights from veteran royal journalist Rebecca English are likely to renew debates over the couple’s time within the Royal Family and their ongoing relationship with the British media.

No official response has been issued by Meghan or Prince Harry regarding the latest allegations. The couple, who now reside in California, have consistently emphasized their commitment to mental health, compassion, and creating a positive work environment through their Archewell Foundation.
