Meghan Markle is in hot water after the latest trailer for season two of her Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, teased an appearance from television personality and model Chrissy Teigen.
Teigen’s presence on the show has some fans riled up with viewers taking to X and other social platforms to vent about Meghan’s decision to include her. They claim Teigen is a “bully” and the antithesis of everything the Duchess of Sussex says she stands for.
Meghan Markle and Chrissy Teigen’s friendship has disappointed fans
Although the first season was critically panned, there is still a little hope for season two, although reactions to the trailer have not been great. Fans were quick to voice their complaints, one disappointed viewer wrote, “Meghan Markle claims to champion victims of bullying and mental health struggles, yet she platforms Chrissy Teigen.” Another asked “How can Meghan Markle associate with Chrissy Teigan , a self confessed online bully and troll when she purports to support the Parents Network who are campaigning against this very thing?”
Last year Meghan and Harry launched the Parents’ Network in a bid to tackle online bullying. Teigen, who has engaged in some rather serious online harassment campaigns in the past, seems like the last person the duchess would want to welcome onto her show. Associating with Teigen will likely only further damage her reputation.
Others simply saw it as yet another reason not to watch Meghan’s show on account of her choice in guests, “no celebrities except bully Chrissy Tiegen[sic]!” There were plenty of Meghan haters happy to be given another opportunity to bash the duchess for the company she keeps as a fourth chimed in “Meghan Markle hanging out with Chrissy Teigen makes absolute sense to me.”
What did Chrissy Teigen do?
Much of the anger towards the model comes from a series of old tweets made in the early 2010’s. She’s sort of know for her vicious tweets. One particularly notorious incident involved public tweets she directed at media personality Courtney Stodden telling them to take a “dirt nap,” although Stodden alleges that Teigen also privately DM’d them and continued the harassment in private too.
Teigen has been embroiled in numerous other controversies in the past including inappropriate tweets about young children as well as an instance where she mocked Lindsay Lohan by making remarks about her issues with self harm which Lohan has admitted to struggling with before.
Despite this it seems that Meghan Markle is still giving Teigen a platform on her show. The pair originally met while working on Deal or No Deal together and have remained friends since.
Of course, Chrissy Teigen has since apologized for her past statements, in 2011 she addressed Courtney Stodden, writing, “I was an insecure, attention seeking troll. I am ashamed and completely embarrassed at my behavior but that…is nothing compared to how I made Courtney feel.” However, for many it’s too little too late and Meghan’s choice to continue associating with her is only dragging the duchess’ reputation down too.
