Meghan Markle's Met Gala no-show was strategic snub to avoid 'fanning flames' at Coronation

Meghan Markle 's Met Gala no-show was "strategic," according to PR experts.

Both Meghan and Prince Harry are no strangers to American red carpet events, however the couple have yet to step out for a major award show such as the Met Gala, which took place on Monday 1st May.

While Harry prepares for his appearance at his father, King Charles' Coronation on May 6, Meghan was rumoured to be in attendance at the extravaganza, held at New York's Metropolitan Museum, but she ultimately didn't show.

While security concerns are the first set back that comes to mind, marketing and PR specialist Rochelle White believes that the Duchess of Sussex didn't want to "draw attention or even unnecessary attention to herself."

"With the King's Coronation taking place this weekend, Prince Archie's birthday and Harry heading back to the UK as well as security issues, I think her decision is to keep a low profile and not take away or draw attention or even unnecessary attention to herself," Rochelle exclusively told us.

"With Met Gala being all about fashion, outfits and celebrities, if either or both attended the attention would be lost on the purpose of the event and it would cause a media frenzy. Also, with the speculation that Meghan will not be joining Harry the coverage would be more drama.

"I feel that the move was possibly strategic and planned by them and their team so nothing is overshadowed or lost," she continued.

Meanwhile CEO of 10 Yetis PR Andy Barr has suggested that Meghan has "learnt a few lessons from The Firm" and has embarked on a "media silence" ahead of the Coronation.

“The Meghan Markle PR machine has learnt a few lessons from The Firm and is embarking on a complete media silence ahead of the King's Coronation," Andy told us.

"As many are speculating, there is a very real fear that Harry could actually be booed when he steps out at the Coronation and Team Markle won’t want to be fanning any flames of public discord in the run up.

"We can expect the full and frank airing of public grievances by the pair to resume once the Coronation is complete and Harry is safely back in America," he concluded.
