Meghan Markle's 'grumpy' beagle steals the attention in new video for 40th birthday

Meghan Markle’s beagle had a starring role in a video to mark her 40th birthday - but he doesn’t look too happy to be disturbed.

The Duchess of Sussex launched a campaign to encourage women back into work with a video where she spoke while Guy, a rescue dog, sat snoozing in the background.

Guy is enjoying life in California having also lived with the Sussexes in the UK.

He was seen in the video lying on a comfortable-looking dog cushion, while there was also a glimpse of Prince Harry in the background juggling.

But Guy started to look disgruntled during the conversation between Meghan and Hollywood star Melissa McCarthy as they started to talk more loudly and giggle.

By the end of the two minute clip he was looking far from happy.

Guy was adopted by Meghan when she was living in Toronto starring in Suits and then moved to Kensington Palace with her in 2017.

It was a story of rags to riches for Guy as he was put in a shelter after being found without an owner in Kentucky in 2015 and taken to Toronto for an adoption event.

Prince Harry also had a cameo role in the video, juggling at one of the windows (Archewell)

His story of living in a shelter where he was close to being put down, to moving in with royalty has even been put in print with the book His Royal Dogness, published in 2018.

Guy was even spotted travelling in a car with the Queen to Windsor for the royal wedding in 2018.

In Meghan’s video that was shown on the Archewell website she said she was encouraging people around the world to give 40 minutes of their time to support women looking to get back into the work place.

She has asked 40 established figures from athletes to world leaders to contribute 40 minutes of mentoring.

She began the video telling Melissa McCarthy: “It's my 40th birthday and I've got an idea.

“Because I'm turning 40, I'm asking 40 friends to give 40 minutes of their time to mentor a woman who is remobilising back into the workforce.”
