Meghan Markle's friend breaks down in tears in emotional interview about Duchess

Meghan Markle 's close friend and make-up artist broke down in tears defending his friend in an emotional interview .

During a chat for a CBS News special about the Duke and Duchess, Daniel Martin said the new mum doesn't deserve the negative stories and that Baby Archie will "represent what the world is now".

He said: "She's still Meghan to me.

"I know her so well. I know she doesn’t deserve all of this negative press.

"What’s so frustrating is that you hear these stories and there’s no truth to them.

"It’s not the same person. In the years I’ve known her, the years I’ve worked with her, she’s never had a diva fit, never.

"Their child is going to represent what the world is now. This is a dawn of a new generation. I don't know, it's just relevant."

Daniel also spoke about the negative press around her lavish New York baby shower, saying: "All of us here just wanted her home to celebrate her new baby."

Meghan Markle 'holds all the cards' after giving Harry 'family he always wanted'  

American actor Janina Gavankar also rallied to the defence of her friend, telling the broadcaster that the Duchess of Sussex avoids reading articles about herself.

Janina, who was also at Meghan's baby shower, added: "She doesn’t read the bad or the good because she knows the metrics that you have for your own life cannot be based on a headline that somebody else wrote."

The True Blood star said the birth of Archie on May 6 was a monumental moment for the royals as he has become the first mixed race child in the family.
