Meghan Markle's eagle-eyed fans spot 'clue' that she's very active on Instagram

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex use their popular Instagram account to keep fans up to date with what they've been doing and their important charity work.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry set up their page after their wedding, and have been delighting people with photos and videos ever since.

And while many well-wishers just assume the account is run by a member of their staff, some eagle-eyed fans believe Meghan is the one at the keypad after spotting a big clue.

One of their recent posts looks ahead to the Christmas, with the couple asking people to think of people in need over the Christmas period.

But instead of saying Christmas, they say "festive holiday season", a phrase more commonly used in the States.

The post reads: "With the festive holiday season upon us, it’s also a reminder to reflect on those in need – those who may feel lonely, hungry, homeless, or may be experiencing the holidays for the first time without loved ones.

"It’s an important time of year to help those around you who may be less fortunate, or who would appreciate even the smallest act of kindness.

"Continuing our monthly tradition of highlighting accounts that do good, and inspired by the “Twelve Days of Christmas” - we have selected twelve organisations caring for those in need - especially at this time of year.

"There are, thankfully, so many organisations around the world doing good on global and grassroots levels, many of which are not on Instagram .

"Check out the accounts we have chosen and please share those in your own communities that are making a difference.

"We would love to hear about the ones that inspire you - so please tell us and add your country’s flag!"

People praised Meghan and Harry's post and thanked them for sharing the message, and many people were quick to spot the American term.

They believe it's a sign that the Duchess writes the posts herself.

However some people weren't as happy with the wording.

One wrote: "It’s Christmas please, not the ‘holiday season’ - that’s American. We are a Christian country and you have both been baptised and christened. I am very happy to honour others’ holidays but this, that we celebrate on 25th Dec is Christmas."

Another replied: "I'm sorry but its called Christmas not festive holidays."

It's not the first time fans have spotted an Americanisms in the posts.

Back in April the couple used the account to thank people for donating to charity as part of an unofficial baby shower and in lieu of gifts for baby Archie.

It references "diapers" instead of nappies, "cribs" instead of cots and "backpacks" instead of rucksacks.

It reads: "Baby2Baby have received over 5,000 products to disperse to children in need, including cribs, books, backpacks, diapers and have received monetary donations from around the globe - from Guadalajara to Italy."

Meghan and Harry are skipping Christmas Day with the Royal Family this year, instead spending Archie's first Christmas privately.

They are currently on a six-week break from their royal duties, which is set to include a trip to the US to see Meghan's mum Doria Ragland.
