Meghan Markle's dad hits back at claims she 'lost him' and says he was 'dumped'

Meghan Markle's dad has hit back at her recent comment that she "lost" him - and claims his daughter has thrown people "under the bus".

Thomas Markle made the comments after Meghan seemed to say Prince Harry had talked about a breakdown in his relationship with his own father Prince Charles after the couple moved to the United States.

However, just hours after her comments were published by The Cut magazine, Meghan's unofficial spokesman Omid Scobie said on social media that his understanding was that Prince Harry was actually referring to Meghan's loss of her own father, and that Meghan was saying she doesn't want Harry to lose his.

Thomas Markle replied last night, as reported by the Daily Mail : "She didn't 'lose' me, she dumped me.

"I am not lost. She knows where to find me. My number hasn't changed.

"I would love to hear from my daughter and meet my son-in-law and my grandkids for the first time."

The 78-year-old said he was still very ill and was trying to recover from having a stroke in May. He added that every time his daughter speaks, he is brought into the story and described the situation as never ending.

Mr Markle is suing British photographer Jeff Rayner for breach of contract because of staged pictures that were taken prior to Meghan and Harry's wedding in 2018.

The dad said that the images led to his "worldwide embarrassment" and destroyed his relationship with Meghan.

He claims he had two heart attacks on the evening of the wedding as a result of the stress, with doctors then refusing him to fly.

Mr Markle claims he has not spoken to his daughter or Prince Harry since.

It is understood that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are back in the UK at the moment after reportedly making the trip from the US "flying commercial".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned for their first visit since the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and shunned the use of a private jet, Hello! reported.

As things stand it isn’t known whether their children Archie and Lilibet are with them, but they have not been seen.

It was confirmed last month that the couple would be returning to Britain with a spokesperson at the time confirming: " Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September."

They are back preparing for a schedule of events this coming week and so far it is believed there are no plans to see the Cambridges despite only staying down the road from them.

They are staying at their Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, a 15-minute walk from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s new home in Adelaide Cottage.

Harry and Meghan's first stop will be in Manchester on Monday for the One Young World summit, an event which brings together young leaders from over 190 countries.
